ProActive Therapies is a multi-disciplinary therapy centre. We provide a range of therapies from a variety of different professionals.
The centre is an expansion and rebranding of Mattishall Sports Injury Clinic. Heidi Dawson founded Mattishall Sports Injury Clinic in early 2012 from Farrow Close, Mattishall. The clinic then moved with her in 2017 to a location on Welborne Common. Several different sports injury and sports massage therapists have worked from the clinic over the years and this has primarily been our focus.
In early 2020 we took the decision to move the clinic into external premises. With this move we expanded with more treatment rooms, a waiting area and open plan exercise space. We are keen to hear from a range of professional therapists who may be looking for a treatment room space. This would further enhance the services which we can offer.
Heidi Dawson BSc (Hons) GSR is a Graduate Sports Rehabilitator. She completed a three year degree at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, graduating in 2005 with an upper second class honours degree. She started working at Carrefour Health Club in Norwich in the summer of ’05, initially in a full-time fitness consultant position, and then in a part-time freelance role, running the sports injury clinic.
In 2012 Heidi established Mattishall Sports Injury Clinic, which grew from a single room in her converted garage on Farrow Close, to a two rooms clinic occupying an annexe of her home in Welborne.
In March 2020, Heidi took over the lease at the current premises in Honingham, rebranding to ProActive Therapies.
Heidi is a full member of the British Association of Sports Rehabilitator’s and Trainers (BASRaT), which provides insurance up to £5 million (in line with that of the CSP for physiotherapy).
Since graduating, Heidi has completed additional courses in:
- Orthotic prescription
- Kinesio taping
- Advanced Sports Massage Techniques
- Cervical Spine Masterclass
- Functional Running Assessment and Gait Re-Training
- Medical Acupuncture
- Electro-Medical Acupuncture
Heidi is also a keen sportswoman herself. She has played hockey for many years and has completed the Great South Run (10 miles); ‘Run to the beat’ half marathon and Colchester zoo half marathon. This experience has led to a keen interest in running specific injuries and injury prevention. Exercise currently mainly involves strength training, both indoor and outdoor cycling and running.
